Passive Income Opportunities

Are you tired of wasting countless hours of your life, not to mention a big chunk of your bank account, on useless “home-based business opportunities” and Internet income schemes? Are you desperate to find a legitimate opportunity to make extra income for you and your family? If you’re like many people online today, you’re probably wondering whether passive income opportunities really exist on the Internet.

We know how you feel. There are so many sales pages out there, both online and off-line, that promise you the impossible. They make outrageous claims about becoming a millionaire overnight with little or no work by pushing a few buttons or using some secret “state-of-the-art” software tools. It’s no wonder that many people are frustrated, tired, and not even sure whether there are legitimate business opportunities on the Internet for the ordinary person.

Nevertheless, many people just like you are making real money online each and every day through a variety of business models. Some make enough to cover their car payments or mortgages, while others have achieved full time incomes. Some are even able to make solid six-figure incomes because they have committed themselves to learning and growing their businesses over the long-term.

As long as you understand that these business opportunities online do take some time and effort, you’ll be able to achieve some real progress whether you just want to make an extra 500 bucks a month or want to replace your current job.

Here are some examples of legitimate passive income opportunities online.

Affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you make money by promoting other people’s products. It’s really quite simple, and even though this may have more potential than creating your own products from scratch, you can avoid many of the common hassles that most business people have to deal with. This is definitely a legitimate opportunity, and even major companies like Amazon.com have affiliate programs. All you have to do is send traffic to the merchant website through your special affiliate link, and you don’t have to make any outrageous claims or false promises about the products.

Content websites. Many people have started successful blogs or websites and made money with advertising. This is another really simple model for you to consider. As long as you pick a niche that is both interesting to you and profitable, you can focus most of your efforts on creating a large content website that will eventually receive lots of traffic from search engines and social media networks. Then you could simply make money with any number of advertising models.

Selling your own products. We mentioned how simple affiliate marketing can be, but there is always greater potential for those who are willing to take on the investment and risk of creating their own products. These can be information products that teach people how to do something in a popular market like health and fitness, self-improvement, pet care, or business and marketing.

Pursuing a Career in Marketing

The decision to pursue a career in marketing is not one that you should take lightly. If you are thinking about getting involved with marketing, you need to take some time to carefully consider whether or not your personality is ideally suited to working in marketing. There are three personal characteristics that are essential to having a successful career in marketing: 1. gregariousness, 2. a positive attitude, and 3. self discipline.

The importance of gregariousness is often overlooked by people thinking of marketing as a career option. But its importance cannot be overstated. In case you are not familiar with the word, being gregarious means that you are fond of company or sociable. This is important in marketing because if you are not sociable, you will not be able to get along with your work colleagues very well.

Succeeding in marketing is not just about having all the technical skills good marketing professionals need. You also need to have the so-called “soft skills” that are every bit as important as technical skills. If you are gregarious and possess good “soft skills” in addition to being technically skilled, you will be very likely to succeed with your marketing career.

Having a positive attitude is another essential characteristic. Marketing is not an easy field to work in: There will be good days and bad days. The trick to persevering in the face of significant difficulties is to maintain a positive attitude. People with a positive attitude are able to shrug off negativity and work to the best of their ability.

Bosses are not just interested in how good your marketing skills are, they want you to be resistant to burnout. Nothing makes a person more resistant to burnout than positive thinking skills. If you are a positive thinker, you will be able to bounce back from defeat in a way that no pessimist ever will. In the short run, this will help you to do your job more effectively, and in the long run, it may lead to you getting promoted to a better job.

Self discipline is as important as being gregarious and having positive thinking skills. In today’s modern business world, you need to be a self starter. If you are a self starter, not only will your boss be very impressed, but you will be able to derive more satisfaction from your job. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that your boss’s main role is to motivate you: You are responsible for motivating yourself.

While you may be able to succeed in the short run without self discipline, the fact is that in the long run you will fail. You would be hard pressed to find an individual with a successful career in marketing who does not possess ample quantities of self discipline. The best marketing professionals are renowned for their self discipline.

Marketing is a wonderful career choice. There are so many different options and so many ways you can utilize your creative capabilities. If you want to be the best marketing professional you can be, you need to be gregarious, maintain a positive attitude, and exercise self discipline.

How To Work From Home Without Any Investment

Everyone is on a tight budget these days, especially those of us who have lost our jobs or have had to take a cut in pay to keep our jobs. However, there are ways that you can make money and work from home without any investment. Given that so many people are strapped for cash and simply can’t afford the high initial start-up cost that is usually associated with beginning a business, it’s important that there options which don’t require initial investments to earn income. If you’ve been looking for a way to put money in your wallet, but simply don’t have room in your budget to hand over a small fortune to get started, then you should know that there are a variety of ways to earn money in the comfort of your own home.

One of the best ways to work from home without any investment is to utilize your skills to find freelance jobs online. You can easily do an internet search to find sites which specialize in matching employers with people who are talented in their industry. For instance, if you excel at writing, then why not try to go to a site that is geared toward finding work for writers and allowing for them to bid on certain jobs that best suit their talents. There is plenty of freelance work to be had, without having to worry about investing any money whatsoever.

Another great way to work from home without any investment is to start a website or blog. This might seem like a rather complicated process, but here are a number of sites which now offer free and easy website design and even free hosting. By having your own site or blog, you can use Google AdSense to earn revenue and can even sell ad space should your site become successful. If you would like to make your online presence a bit more visible, then simply pay for a domain, which will only set you back about $10 per year.

There are countless other ways to work from home without any investment, as well, such as selling unused items on eBay or taking paid surveys. If you have a certain skill in a particular field, then make sure to use it to your advantage. It’s always a great idea to make money doing what you have knack for. Just think of how much time you are going to have to spend with your family if you decide to work from home, rather than having to venture out to work every day.

Where to Find Used Books to Sell Online

If you appreciate books and have always wanted to get paid for buying and reselling used books online, think about starting an online book shop. Thanks to Amazon.com and other online marketplaces for new and used books, it no longer takes thousands of dollars, a local store and thousands of books to get into the game.

There are thousands of part-time booksellers that have carved out a successful niche for themselves in the online bookseller’s world, specializing in areas like old comics, collectible books, even romance paperback novels.

If you’ve purchased a book at Amazon.com recently, you’ve undoubtedly noted all the used mass-market paperbacks, like John Grisham novels, selling for a penny or so, and wondered how anyone could make a living at those prices. The short answer is they can’t! But for every penny book, there are many used books listed – and yielding $ 5, $ 10 or $ 20. These tend to be “evergreen” books that remain popular because they cover ageless material, such as how to renovate a VW beetle or finish concrete or invest in bonds.

Another factor driving the profits of online used booksellers is the higher price of new books. When a new book costs $ 29.95 and you can find a lightly used copy for $ 10 or $ 15, what do you do? If you’re like most, you go for the bargain. The sorry state of the overall economy over the last few year has only made it easier, not harder, to sell used books online, as more folks welcome a bargain price.

Today, the field of online book selling is booming as brick and mortar stores fall victim to the double whammy of high expenses and online competition. To prosper as an online book seller, all you need to do is find popular books at a low price and sell them online, while balancing your desire for incredible profits with the online shopper’s desire for incredible bargains!

Most beginning online booksellers should focus on newer used books, those produced in the last two or three decades, instead of collectible and vintage books. Newer books are much easier to find, affordable to buy and easier to sell in no time. When you turn over your inventory quickly, you free up money and space for more books. After you’ve been selling for a while, you may want to explore the fascinating world of vintage books, but that niche requires more knowledge, capital and patience, because of slower turnover.

To succeed as an online bookseller, you must be able to find new inventory regularly. The good news is – used books are all over the place, if you know where to scout. Here are a few of the best locations to start looking:

1. Library sales. These periodic sales are held by almost every town library in the country, and can be a great source for online re-sellers to find prizes at bargain prices. You’ll find ex-library books and books donated by supporters.

2. Garage and Yard sales. These are often a great way to find books for your inventory. As with any items you find at a garage or moving sale, never hesitate to make an offer. Like the old Yiddish saying – “If you don’t ask, you don’t get.” The offer likely to get accepted is for a lot of 6-30 books at half the price. Another technique used by smart resellers is to stop back on the second day and offer to haul away unsold books for free.

3. Thrift shops. Skip the Goodwill and Salvation Army thrift stores, as they have started listing their own donated books online when prices warrant it. The greatest sources are the little thrift shops that support local churches, hospitals and other worthy causes. Most are only open a day or two a week. One in my area specializes in clothing, so the donated books were simply being thrown in a dumpster! You may find a similar bonanza in your town.

4. Bookstores. Visit all the book stores in your area for good deals, as there can be a wide gap between their used book prices and what the same book can bring on Amazon. I often find how-to books priced at $ 2 – $ 5 at bookstores that bring $ 10 – $ 25 when sold on Amazon.

5. Other online book sellers. Remarkable as it may seem, you can often find bargains at online sources like half.com. I checked their web site today and found thousands of books listed for under a dollar.

6. Estate sales. For a source of bargain books, an estate sale is hard to beat. Often a deceased book lover’s life long collection of books will be available. Since heirs and estate auctioneers are not used to pricing individual books, prices can reflect that lack of knowledge. I’ve found leather-bound limited-editions passed down for two or three generations, rare art books and even rare magazines and collectible comics.

You’ll find estate sale notices in your local newspaper, but your best bet is an online web site, estatesales.org, which lists sales and auctions nationwide by state and town. Make sure to leave your business card with the estate liquidator at any sales or auctions you attend, as they often need to dispose of book lots that are too small for a formal sale or auction.

7. Free classified advertising. A free classified advertisement on craigslist.org or backpage.com can create a steady stream of used book bargains, usually before the public discovers them at a garage or estate sale. Two headlines that work well are: I BUY USED BOOKS and CASH PAID FOR BOOKS. Small classified ads also work well posted on community bulletin boards.

8. eBay. You’ll often find bargains at eBay if you search for “book lots” in sizes ranging from 3 books to hundreds. A recent find was a collection of Raggedy Ann children’s books that brought 10X their cost when sold individually on Amazon. Most retailers would love a 1,000 % markup!

Market Your Online Business With a Book

Are you a book author? Still deciding if it’s worth the effort? It is!!! You can use your book in a wealth of ways to build your business or promote your professional practice.

Here are 7 suggestions for using your book that will make you more money, whether it’s a digital e-book or print version, whether you plan to self publish your book or not, whatever book market you’re targeting:

(1) Say thanks with your book. Brainstorm a list of people who’ve already helped you–who will probably be able to help again in the future. Don’t just give them a copy of your book to read. Provide them with extra copies that they can use for their own businesses. Or, say thanks for the referrals with your book.

If it’s printed, autograph each copy. Include a personal note from you. Generate some publicity, too. People will talk about the book you gave them, especially because it’s been personalized (and that got it for free as thanks).

(2) Freely give out an e-book (digital version) based on excerpts from the print version of your book. Capitalize on viral marketing by making selected excerpts into an e-book available as an opt-in at your website or distributed via specialized websites offering free e-books.

Make sure your e-book provides valuable information, but doesn’t give away the how-to secrets from your book itself. Tell why and what, not how, in your viral version. Use your excerpted free e-book to entice people to visit your website to buy the paid version of your book.

(3) “Bribe” people with your book. If you’d like to get some people to help you but you don’t have money to pay them, use your book as a bribe to get them to provide their services for free.

If you’re looking to get help from experts, for example, offer to customize a digital version of your book by adding each person’s name as a contributor. Add a few pages to their personal version containing their words of wisdom. If they don’t want to write anything, interview them to draw forth some ideas that you put down on paper for them. They’re now officially part of your book.

And, you’ll benefit from their services without having to blow your budget. Win-Win.

(4) Donate copies of your printed book to be used as prizes at a local business event. Who doesn’t love freebies, especially organizations that don’t have the money to pay for prizes? The organization gets to increase attendance at their event by using your books to attract attention. You get publicity when your book and your name are mentioned at prize time. And, the happy winners will spread the word even more when they have your wonderful book in their hands.

If you’ll be attending the event, offer to autograph the books for the winners, too. Not going to be at the event? No problem. Give the event planners autographed copies of your book in advance (obviously, without the personalization for the winners).

(5) Create a series of articles from your book to use in your own e-zine or send them out into cyberspace via e-zine and article directories, announcement services. Article marketing is a fabulous way to generate publicity, sell copies of your book, get new clients for your practice, and so on.

The cost is mostly time, rather than money, if you put together and distribute the articles yourself. Or, spend a bit of money to have someone else write the articles and have an assistant or article service distribute the articles.

(6) Turn your book into a course. Enjoy teaching, but never seem to find the time to develop a new course? Take advantage of another way to use your book to build your business. Transform it into a course by adding some exercises and examples, weekly assignments, worksheets, self-quizzes, etc.

If you want to teach the course live, use your converted book to guide your students. If you prefer online teaching, digitalize your book. Don’t want to be directly involved in teaching? Make it a self-study course instead.

(7) Laugh it up! Create a short, humorous version of your book. If you’re artistically-skilled, add some cartoons or witty illustrations. If you’re artistically-challenged like I am, add humor with your words.

I turned my own business writing book into a really funny take-off by looking at collections from Mad Magazine and similar “high-brow literature” for inspiration. I had even more fun writing the humorous version than I did creating the original serious version.

My favorite takeoff in the humorous book was when I used my medical background to develop a fake ad for WRITAGRA to treat debilitating writer’s block. I haven’t done any funny versions of my other books yet, but I probably will. My personal challenge is that I’m not all that inherently funny, although I’m less humor-challenged than I am artistically-challenged.

Some of these 7 methods require print copies of your book. With modern technology, you can get a relatively small number of copies printed at a reasonable cost to use for marketing purposes. Just make sure your distribution of print copies is well targeted, so you don’t waste your money.

If you’re using a digital version of your book, don’t worry about costs. They’re minimal. So, liberally use your digital e-book to make more money!

Which method will you start with for your own print book marketing or e-book marketing activities? How will becoming a book author boost your business, make more money for your professional practice?

How To Do Marketing On The Internet

How to do marketing on the Internet can be overwhelming, however, many of the problems encountered can be eliminated once a systematic approach is taken. There is a process to successful internet marketing which is as follows:

Create a simple one page website

All you need is a single page to start your internet business. This page should provide the information your visitor is looking for, with only one simple action for them to take, ‘sign up’.

Provide a free gift

Providing a free gift enables you to build a list. Once someone signs up for your free gift, their name is added to your list which you can promote to later. A free gift can be an ebook or a report a free newsletter or something else. Make sure it’s something of value. This will keep your list interested in any future products you promote to them.

Build a list

List building is where you will make your money online. When people sign up to your list, your job is to nurture a relationship with them. This can be done through auto-responder emails. New internet markers often fail at this point because they try to sell immediately. Sell later, build a relationship first. You build a relationship with your list by giving value, then when you do want to sell a product to them, they’ll be more interested.

Promote to that list

Once you have nurtured your list, they’ve got to know you a little and like you, you can now promote your products to your list.

Just like in any business, there are tools required. In internet marketing you require:

    1. Domain name- This is the web address of your website for example virgin.com To get a domain name you need to go to what’s called a registrar like ‘Godaddy’ and register your domain name. There will be a yearly fee to register your domain name. Go to Godaddy now, type in different names and see if they are available.

    1. Hosting - This is where your website lives if you will, it’s your space on the web, just as your house is your space on your street. Hosting your website enables it to become live on the web. There are a number of Web Hosting companies such as Hostgator or Just Host. A monthly fee is charged to host your website.

  1. Auto-responder- An auto-responder is what you use to manage and nurture your list. This will send messages out to your list automatically. There is a monthly fee for this. Aweber is a good auto-responder or you could try Mail Chimp.

Now that you have your tools, you need to choose a niche/market to sell to – Once you’ve chosen your niche/market, create a website around that niche and promote to your list. A niche could be Property Investment, How To Loose Weight, Dating.

Starting An Online Business – What To Expect

I’ve been an entrepreneur for much of my adult life. It’s been a great ride, one that I wouldn’t change at all. The ride, however, has had its ups and downs, and my latest venture into the online business world is no exception.

With all the hype, all the gurus claiming quick millions, all the talk, one would think it’s just quick and easy to become a millionaire online. While I’m sure it’s possible because I know some that have, I have not achieved that level YET. I say yet because it’s only the beginning and I have a long road ahead.

If you’re out of work, needing money, and thinking I could make a quick buck starting an online business, think twice about what you really want, and what you’ll have to sacrifice to get there.

I started my journey to internet stardom several months ago, September 2011 to be exact. Wanting to get out of my current occupation of landscaping provided the motivation, the month September being the best time since the season was coming to and end. I’d have 4-5 months to make a go of it before the next season started.

Here I am, 6 months later and boy have I learned a lot. I’ve learned a lot about what online business is, what it isn’t, and I want to share that insight with you. Hopefully, you’ll get some valuable information that will help you in deciding whether to do it or not. Here are some important points to consider:

    1. The Key To Success – Patience- Starting any business, whether it’s online or bricks and mortar, requires a lot of patience. First there’s the start-up planning, lots of reading and learning, and website creation which could take a while. Once your product and/or website launches if you can’t get traffic to your site, you won’t be making any sales. I’ve learned that getting traffic is not that simple and unless you have a streak of luck, you’ll have to work for that traffic, putting in lots of hours of SEO, article marketing, social marketing, pay per click, and other tactics.

I have been working at traffic since December 2011 and I can tell you first hand, it’s a tough nut to crack. It’s taken hours and hours of work to get my websites anywhere near where they need to be.

The good part about that is that once you’re getting traffic and making sales, your website should run on autopilot, taking a lot less time to maintain. This is a great strategy for success. A huge commitment of time now, for a reward later. If you’re ready to make the commitment, you’ve passed the first step.

    1. Inconsistent Income- Here’s a question to ask yourself: “Are you ready to deal with an income that’s unreliable at first?” It’s best, of course, to have a nest egg or work on your business in your spare time. You could go many months will little income and when it does start, it will be inconsistent.

Online business is like any other business, it will take time to get started, then start small, then once the snowball starts rolling, it will grow in leaps and bounds. Are you OK with that? If so, you’ve passed the next step.

    1. Discipline- There’s no question that working at home takes discipline – the discipline to stay focused on your job while the distractions of your home are all around. Perhaps your children, pets, laundry and other tasks will be on your mind. You cannot succumb to those temptations. Stay focused.

The best way I have found to stay focused is to created goals and a “to do” list at the beginning of the week. Check each one off as they’re completed. If you KNOW you have a goal, you’re more likely to get it completed. If you’re able to find discipline in yourself, you’ve passed the next step.

  1. Persistence- There are a lot of obstacles to get in your way in life, and your business will have its share as well. You’ll need to have a STRONG PERSISTENT ATTITUDE to stay the course, despite the problems going on around you. Think of it this way, each problem is just another step forward on your way to success. Nothing comes easy. Some folks struggle for years before finally hitting success. The key is, they didn’t give up.

I have found that when facing problems, the best reaction is NO reaction. You must consciously THINK of your reaction and consciously NOT react. Then, decide on a solution and act on that solution. This works for me. It helps me stay the course and not get bogged down by problems.

If you have a tendency to throw in the towel and give up in the face of problems, entrepreneurship may not be for you. If you have a quality of staying the course, you’ve passed the test.

  2. While hanging out with friends, Justin Bieber, Jordan Jansen and Cody Simpson, Christian Beadles enjoys playing tennis, going water skiing and snow skiing, skate boarding, going dirt biking, playing volleyball and soccer and playing golf. He takes martial arts classes and also loves skyping and making music videos.
